Well, for the time difference, I think you are fife hours ahead... But I agree, it would be great if the site could recognize our local time by our pc clock, and then show times of board post mails etc. in our respective local time. I don't know how hard it is to implement this, but I saw something similar on the schedule page of ACBradio, and also at www.for-the-people.com...

I think it's a tad tricky to implement however I never did pretend to be a technical expert on these matters. the time difference is 5 hours sg.

and to be honest, I think the admins/cl's time is better spent implementing actual features to the site than adjusting the clock settings for users who can't add or subtract hours to figure out when a message was posted, and what does it really matter anyway?

Yeah it might be tricky but still I think it is a good idea.

why though, i mean why does it matter what time a board topic was posted. and .. it's a matter of simple maths to work it out if it's that important.

Yes, I agree it's not hard to work out the time difference, but it's just more convenient to have our local times up their.

Hmm, I think you can use Java and client side scripting to show the time local to the machine, however that really just applies to current time. I guess through Java and IE there is a wqay to obtain the user's current time zone and adjust the board times that way but it would require additional scripting and, like sb said, I don't see the benefit ot this, if you can add or subtract 5 hours or 3 hours or whatever I really think that's your problem and by using U.S. time always at least the board time posts are kept constant.
I kow this is doable though so that's the essential point of my post.

No. I don't think this is a good idea at all. It may be easy to do but think of the annagram game and how this will affect it. If a time zone is different, the game will have to start earlier or later for others, depending on when your day starts!!! If we could keep this feature, and regulate it by the American time, there will be less confusion. It is a simple matter of calculation and a little math isn't bad for you!!!
*sexy*

Right now the time is fixed as US Eastern, with all the annoyances that brings. If I had it to do over again I would pick UTC and then do the conversions whenever time was displayed, but I think we're stuck with the current way, at least for the forseeable future.
